The Heart of Cape Town Museum celebrates the first human heart transplant in the world, conducted in Cape Town by Professor Chris Barnard on 3 December 1967, and all subsequent transplants conducted at the Groote Schuur Hospital.
The human heart transplant was viewed as one of the greatest moments in medical history, requiring a combination of scientific dedication, human courage, and generosity.
