What’s On in the Cape: 15 July

Next week the birthday of Nelson Mandela, our late former President, will be celebrated throughout the country with a number of events. International Mandela Day will be held on 18 July. Ladles of Love aims to break a Guinness World Record in creating the South African flag with food cans, on Monday 18 July, from 9h00, at The Cape Town International Convention Centre. Camps Bay Clean is hosting a 67 minute Mandela Day Community Beach Clean in Camps Bay on Monday 18 July, from 13h00 – 14h07. Meet opposite The 41 Restaurant, and enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea afterwards. Please bring gloves. Bags will be provided.

Franschhoek is celebrating Bastille Day this weekend, on 15 and 16 July, on the village main road, with the tasting of Franschhoek wines, eating French-inspired foods, wearing French colours, and dancing in the Town Hall. R180 entrance fee. Book at Webtickets.

Whilst in Franschhoek, visit the First South African Perfume Museum, 13 Lambrechts Road, Franschhoek. Monday – Sunday.

Watch the Springboks and Wales play each other in a Rugby Test Match at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday 16 July, at 17h05, the first time that a Rugby Test match will be played to a full stadium capacity crowd.
