Frequently Asked Questions
Victoria Falls can be visited year-round, although October is typically characterised by particularly high humidity and intense heat in the surrounding area. The ‘low water’ season generally runs from August through to January, reaching its nadir between November and early December.
During this period, the most impressive views are often of Devil’s Cataract, which flows year-round and is located on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls. While water levels are not at their absolute lowest in August and September, the Zimbabwean side continues to offer the more rewarding vantage point during these months.
The low-water season also brings distinct advantages, including access to activities only possible at reduced flow levels, such as visits to Livingstone Island and white-water rafting.

Zimbabwe can be interchanged with Zambia, however if visa requirements are prohibitive. A “Kaza UNIVisa” can be arranged to facilitate entry into both countries, allowing you to experience the Falls from either side. Where required, individual visas for either Zambia or Zimbabwe may also be obtained through the respective countries’ official e-visa portals.
It is advisable when travelling in Zimbabwe or Zambia to carry US dollars in small denominations (post-2010 issues), as these are widely accepted for day-to-day transactions. While credit cards are generally accepted in hotels and lodges, US dollars remain preferable for tipping as well as for purchases in local markets and shops. It is also worth noting that many vendors do not accept American Express, so travelling with a Visa or Mastercard is recommended. In South Africa, payments are typically made in the local currency, the South African Rand, or by credit card.
This itinerary is easily customisable, allowing stays in each destination to be extended or reduced, or alternative properties to be substituted where preferred. Zimbabwe may also be replaced with the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, depending on your preference.
Safari accommodation is generally secured well in advance compared with typical city or beach holidays. We therefore recommend booking a minimum of six to eight months ahead of travel. In addition, many of the properties we feature are small, exclusive, and offer limited availability.
Payment is required in advance, and may be made by credit card or bank transfer. A deposit is required to secure all bookings, with the remaining balance payable no later than 60 days prior to travel.
Transport arrangements can be tailored to your preferences, ranging from private chauffeur-driven transfers for a seamless travel experience, to self-drive rental cars for greater flexibility and independence. Within the cities, Uber is widely available, reliable, and cost-effective. Most private safari lodges are accessed either by road transfer or by light aircraft to a nearby bush airstrip, with the latter often proving both the most efficient option and a memorable highlight of the journey. All transport arrangements are seamlessly incorporated into your itinerary, and managed on your behalf.
