On Saturday 25 February Cape Town hosts the first ever Formula E for electric race cars, taking place on a 2,74 km street circuit around the Cape Town Stadium. This e-race is environmentally friendly and sustainable, with carbon net zero emissions. The race will be taking place annually in Cape Town for the next five years. The economic impact for the city is R2 billion per race.
Seating for 22497 spectators has been set up alongside the street circuit. Formula E participating cars can drive in excess of 300 km/hour. Tickets are available from R350 upwards, from Ticketmaster.
A number of road closures on the race day will affect traffic into the Waterfront, Green Point, and Mouille Point.
